Who is eligible?

In order to meet the program requirements for UK and Ireland, you need to:

  • Be of good character and aged between 17 years to 27 (30) years
  • Have adequate education and must have childcare experience either babysitting, looking after younger siblings or formal childcare training
  • Have dated medical certificate and a valid driving license when required
  • Very keen, interested and motivated, single (not married)
  • Provide appropriate numbers of reference as required by the agency or the family
  • Have travel document that is valid for the whole period of stay
  • Keep maximum personal hygiene and surrounding clean
  • Behave ethically and decently while staying with the family and adhere to the social norms of the society in the target country
  • Reasonably respect the wishes of the family; it’s habits, choice of friends, business and religion

What is the job about ?

Duties and Responsibilities of an Au Pair:

  • Care for the children and light housework such as cleaning up an activity after the child/children, making meals for the children, cleaning their room etc
  • Feed, bath, play with and mentally stimulate it in a manner appropriate to its age and level of development
Family's Responsibilities:
  • Provide an appropriate private room and meals for the Au Pair
  • Make available the Au Pair's agreed free time and days off
  • Pay the Au Pair's agreed pocket money
  • Treat the Au Pair as an "extended family" member, not as an employee

Duration of assignment:

6-12 monthsThere's also the possibility to extend visa (two years with a working visa that can be extended) 

Time off:

Two whole days a week should be completely free. Opportunity to attend language classes and do homework, to make friends and attend cultural/social activities should be given
One week's paid holiday for each completed 26 weeks of residence with the family

Pocket Money:

  • Au Pair: £50 minimum
  • Mother Help plus (full-time): £100

In return for her/his help the Au Pair receives pocket money of not less than £50.00 per week
The Au Pair works for approximately 25 hours per week, and one could reasonably expect them to baby-sit for 2 evenings per week
The Au Pair has her own bedroom with heating and study facilities

Deposit: Waived

Commitment deposit: Waived

Au Pair's Expenses:

The Au Pair is responsible for her/his own toiletries and entertainment.
The Au Pair is responsible for your own airfare to and from the U.K. and must have either a return ticket or sufficient funds to return home at the end of your stay in England.
The Au Pair must register at the main police station within 7 days of arrival, taking 2 passport-sized photographs. There is a registration charge.

How to apply ?

The Application Process:

  • Read the terms and conditions of the program and pay special attention to those specified by our UK partner
  • Fill out the Application Form
  • Attach 2 smiling photographs
  • Attach a 'Dear Family' letter
  • Attach 2 references
  • Attach a Health certificate
  • Contacts us by mail, phone or e-mail to schedule an appointment for an interview

What Happens Next

After the interview the application is reviewed in our office, references checked and other checks done, and then the Au Pair's complete file is sent to our partner agency in UK
After a suitable family has been found the Au Pair is sent their details and given the opportunity to telephone them. The family will then send the Au Pair a Letter of Invitation and family photographs. The Au pair will then need to make own travel arrangements and advise chosen family where and when she/he will be arriving. They will meet the Au Pair on arrival
The Au Pair might need to pay a fee at the Great Britain embassy; the fee is payable directly to the embassy
The earlier the Au Pair applies the better chances are of placement

Orientation:

One of our representatives will conduct a thorough orientation with the Au Pair while still in CanadaThe partner agency in the UK will take care of the applicant for the duration of her/his stay there

Visa:

The Au Pair might need to apply for visa 

Medical Insurance:

The Au Pair can obtain treatment under the National Health Service if she/he falls ill or has an accident. The Au Pair is accepted onto the doctor's list at the doctor's discretion and must pay the same charges as are paid in this country, i.e. prescription charged, dental charges and so forth
